Nguyen Thuy My was born in Ha Noi in a musical family. Her parents and her sister are well known musical artists in Vietnam. Her parents were her first music tutors since she was 6 years old. Then she started learning “dan tam Thap luc” – a very unique traditional musical instrument of Vietnam with 36 strings. She’s been involved in our traditional music.

 

1993 – 1998: at Vietnam National Academy of Music(VNAM), I began with Elementary course, the subject: 36 strings’ instrument.

1998 – 2002: at Vietnam National Academy of Music(VNAM), I continued studying the Intermediate Course of the same subject.

2002 – 2006: at Vietnam National Academy of Music(VNAM), I took the University level of the mentioned above subject.

2006 – 2008: I worked as a freelance teacher of the subject “36 strings’ instrument” at the faculty of traditional instruments at Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM).

2006 – present: I worked as a musician, a performer at Folk music group of the Theatre in the Radio “The Voice of Vietnam.”

 

Achievement

2013 : consolation prize at the music competition, organized by Vietnam composers’ Association. Composition – “A moment on the high land” – Solo with a with Folk music orchestra.

2014 : consolation prize at the music competition, organized by Vietnam composers’ Association. Composition – “A beauty of countryside” with Folk music orchestra.

2016 : the first prize at the same music competition, as mentioned above. Composition – “Native sea” Solo on “dan bau” with Folk music orchestra.

2017 : Music producer for central military hospital 108, while this organization was taking part in the competition “lullaby and traditional music” for the whole Army. At the competition, this organization won first place.

2018 : Music producer for all important events in Vietnam.
