Jose was born to a family of artists in the Philippines and was thus introduced to the performing arts at an early age. He grew up in the province, developing intimacy with nature that he would explore in his music later on. He incorporates elements from both northern and southern indigenous Filipino music into his works, as well as other Southeast-Asian and Western influences. Jose has studied under Prof. Katherine Trangco, Prof. Josefino “Chino” Toledo, and Dr. Jonas Baes. He is currently in his 4th year of study at the University of the Philippines College of Music pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Composition.
