Biography
From 1998–2010, after studying in Vietnam National Academy of Music, Luong Hue-Trinh graduated her Bachelor with honours in Jazz keyboard. In 2003, she was granted Exceptional Student by the Yamaha Music Foundation, Japan. In 2010, Trinh began to work in electroacoustic music and it became her main focus. She has strongly been influenced by the music of the Vietnamese composer, SonX. From 2015-2018, she has been awarded a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship for the program “New Technique in Composition”, then Master program of Multimedia Composition under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Georg Hajdu in Hamburg University of Music and Drama (HfMT), Germany. Beside of composing her own multimedia compositions, Trinh has collaborated with artists in various types of art, such as documentary/experimental/hand-drawn animation film,video art, contemporary dance, photography, installation.
Her works have been commissioned for exhibitions in art spaces/museums, broadcast on radio, live performances in festivals in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, China, Japan, Turkey, USA, Czech Republic, Germany, Scandinavia, Australia, Canada & UK. In 2014, her composition Tò Vò was published in the album Synthesis Vol. 1 by Urban Arts Berlin – a compilation of sound works by female composers in various countries. In 2016, her first album Illusions was released by label Pan y Rosas, Chicago. It had a review and was on the list of Best of 2016 – Albums of The Year by Avant Music News, San Francisco, USA.
